“La Deepetch voit Big” (Deeptech sees Big) is back for a second edition, entirely free of charge, on 5 October at the Accor Arena in Paris and in live streaming. This event is dedicated to research and entrepreneurship, and aims to raise awareness among students and doctoral students of innovation from the perspective of business creation.

Launched three years ago by the French Ministry of Economy, the Plan Deeptech (Deeptech plan) sets a target of creating 500 deeptech startups per year by 2030. Deeptech is defined as highly technological start-ups “that shape the world of tomorrow”. To help French start-ups “grow and move from the innovation stage to the industrialization stage”, the event La Deeptech voit Big is proposed this year in a new format to better reveal “the best of deeptech start-ups, French style”.

Participating in a revolution in progress

“Students, doctoral students, researchers, revolutionise the world of tomorrow!” This is the motto of this second edition of La Deeptech voit Big, which will put in close relation entrepreneurship and research through new themes divided into three key moments, from humankind to the Earth and space. With more than 4,000 participants attending the first edition, La Deepetch voit Big, organised by Bpifrance (Banque Publique d’Investissement) with the support of numerous university partners, aims to be a “more immersive, impactful and inspiring” event this year.

Indeed, according to organisers of the event, “new technologies will gradually help us design new ways of consumption, to eat, to take treatments, to protect our environment”. These are the projects that deeptech start-ups are working on every day, with ideas such as “creating life in space, reducing our therapeutic drug consumption through a digital twin, producing light with marine organisms, eradicating Alzheimer’s disease thanks to stem cells, and more”.

Building tomorrow’s world

“Building tomorrow’s world together” is the aim of this event, which is aimed at researchers, students and doctoral students, as well as entrepreneurs and start-upers. In concrete terms, it will take the form of mini-conferences on the themes of entrepreneurship and research (from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm), with first a round table on humans, then on the earth and finally on space. These three conferences will be followed by a networking moment and demonstrations designed to direct exchanges with project leaders, those who “were in your shoes a few years or months ago”.

Participating in La Deepetch voit Big means meeting these innovative project leaders, but also “understanding why and how they decided to launch” and sharing with them “their story, their journey, their advice and their passion”. Taking part in La Deepetch voit Big is thus a way of discovering these incredible challenges, those that seem necessary “to change our society, our lifestyles, our consumption, our food and transform our daily lives, our industries and our environmental impact”. What a show!
