PEPITE Prize: the winners of 2022

Gesehen 738 Mal

The VivaTech fair, a global event for start-ups and innovation, was held in Paris on 15 June and saw the award ceremony of the PEPITE Prizes. The 4th edition of this Prize (that aims at highlighting the best business stories) awarded ten laureates who presented their projects with positive, innovative and inspiring impact, designed thanks to the PEPITE France network, a network of student-entrepreneurs.

Since 2014, the PEPITE (for “Pôles Étudiants pour l’Innovation, le Transfert et l’Entrepreneuriat” in French) system aims at developing the entrepreneurship spirit. More than 21,000 young people benefitted from the national student-entrepreneur status, and from support in the development of their projects on the territory thanks to the network of 33 PEPITE. As the organisers of the event explain, “they all developed many skills working in this entrepreneurship spirit, and some of them improved the ambition of their project”. These are the projects that PEPITE wanted to highlight.

Not just material success criteria

“Celebrating both the people and projects that embody the best stories of the PEPITE network”: this the challenge launched by the network, using a number of criteria based on the success of the company in terms of jobs and fiscal year to make its choice. Such criteria include:

- the number of short-term and long-term jobs, apprenticeship and professionalisation contract, and civic services created;

- the turnover of and total of assets at the end of the fiscal year 2021.

This year, however, to better assess their projects, a new factor was introduced, a critical criterion: the positive impact criterion. According to PEPITE France, this impact is a decided strategy to “create value beyond the sole economic value”, whether in societal, social, environmental or cultural field. This was the determining criterion for the jury, composed of representatives of the ministry of higher education and research, BpiFrance, private partners such as ENGIE or Banque Populaire.

Ten examples of positive impact

The “Prix Pépites” of PEPITE chose to “provide visibility to those who, through development, show that it is possible to have diversity in careers and can inspire new ideas”. The prize is open to student-entrepreneurs and alumni of the PEPITE France network, and recompenses ten original projects putting forward creativity, inventiveness, but also positiveness in the fields of sustainable development, management, integration, education, health or environment.

So the jury awarded ten projects, as ten examples to illustrate a positive impact:

  • Avekapeti delivers a meal at your house for than 7 euros to “eat a healthy meal for the price of a fast-food meal”;

  • Azuvia is specialised in the ecological processing and decontamination to fight water pollution using plants and decontaminating bacteria to protect biodiversity;
