DETAILS:
We'll be kicking things off after the summer break with our screening of 'L'Économie du Couple' / 'After Love' from Joachim Lafosse (2016 Cannes Film Festival) in the heart of Montmartre at the infamous Cinema Studio 28! The evening will start with a film-themed cocktail (€4.50) available at the cinema bar from 8pm which can be enjoyed in the beautiful courtyard before the screening starts at 9.15pm.
In typical French style, 'L'Économie du Couple' tugs on your heartstrings while exploring the complexities and realities of love:
'After 10 years of living together, Marie and Boris have decided to get a divorce. Marie is going to buy the apartment in which they live with their two daughters. But it was Boris who had completely renovated it, and since he cannot afford to find another place to live, they must share it. When all is said and done, neither of the two is willing to give up.'
- Official synopsis
Although only released in cinemas earlier this month, the film has already received widespread critical acclaim from the international film community:
'With outstanding, genuine performances from Bejo and Kahn, the subtle and powerful After Love reminds us that sometimes, no matter how much beauty is to be found in our immediate surroundings, we just need to get out.'
- Kerry Craddock - Toronto International Film Festival
