DETAILS:

Lost in Frenchlation and the London International Documentary Festival (LIDF) have teamed up to bring the best French documentaries to the international community of Paris, with their first screening taking place on the 3rd of March!

The collaboration marks LIDF’s entry into the Parisian cinema circuit – an important development in the continued international expansion of the UK’s largest documentary festival... And who better to support them than the only Parisian organisation to regularly screen French films with English subtitles – Lost in Frenchlation.

Over the next 6 months, the team will be hosting monthly screenings of the most acclaimed French documentaries at the historic Cinema Mac Mahon, located just moments away from the Champs-Élysées. Carrying on in the Lost in Frenchlation spirit, there will be 30 minutes of drinks before each film for catching up with friends and meeting fellow cinema-goers.

The first screening of the series of will be Matthew Lancit’s Flâneurs: Street Rambles, which will be introduced by the Director himself with Q&A following the film:

‘Between film projects and following the birth of his daughter, a Canadian in Paris (Matthew Lancit) must confront his slacker lifestyle and decide if there is something in it worth passing on to the next generation, or if he is better off getting a job. In search of the remaining traces of flâneurs (19th Century wanderers of Paris), he takes his daughter on a series of poetic strolls in which he assumes the role of a contemporary flâneur and crosses the path of people who help reveal the relevance of such a figure today. In the movement back and forth between the filmed streets of Paris and scenes from the domestic life of a young father, a dialectic emerges between a baby experiencing and making sense of the world and these wandering men trying to do the same.’ - Official synopsis
