« International students and Francophonie » big contest

March 20 is the International Day of La Francophonie. Since 1990, Francophones and Francophiles from all continents have been celebrating the International Francophonie Day every 20 March. This event was created in 1988 to celebrate the French language and its 300 million speakers worldwide on five continents.

In order to promote the use and influence of the French language in a context of linguistic and cultural diversity, Campus France and France Alumni are running a contest for current and former foreign students living in France. Take a picture showing what “Francophonie” means to you and subtitle it with an idiom or a typical expression of the French language. You have until Friday, April 5^th at 3pm to play!

This contest aims to show the richness and the particularity of Francophone cultures.

• Who?
  
  

The competition is open to current and former foreign students and graduates of French higher education living in France and registered on the France Alumni platform www.francealumni.fr

•  How?
  
  

1) Register on francealumni.fr

2) Take a picture showing what “Francophonie” means to you (a friendship, an encounter, a reading, etc…) and subtitle it with an idiom or a typical expression of the French language. - Example of an idiom: « Avoir d’autres chats à fouetter » = To have more important or more interesting things to do or attend to. Example of a typical expression of the French language: « placoter » = to chat in Canada

3) Post it on the France Alumni Facebook page or on your Instagram account (only if your Instagram account is public) using hastags #FranceAlumni #francophonie #malanguefrançaise #mon20mars

 The contest is open from Monday, March 11, 2019 at 6pm to Friday, April 5^th at 3pm

• How will the winners be named?      
  
  

A jury made up of members of the Campus France  teams will meet to designate the winners. The jury will take into account the numbers of “likes” on your picture.

• Prizes

1st prize: A dream weekend in a French city
2nd prize: An unforgettable cultural outing in Paris
3rd prize: A meal for two people in a Parisian restaurant
4th and 5th prize: French-speaking books

+ other great prizes!

The results will be announced in early April 2019. The identity of the winners will be posted on www.francealumni.fr and www.campusfrance.org as well as on our social networks. The winners will be contacted and will be invited to the award ceremony in mid-April (the date will be communicated later).
