French films at the Durban International Film Festival

The 2015 Durban International Film Festival (DIFF) will take place from 16 to 26 July.

The French film industry will be widely represented at the 36th edition of the Durban International Film Festival this year with 12 French feature films and 5 short films.

The selection of French features films include 10 features: Bizarre by Etienne Faure, Dealer by Jean Luc Herbulot, Eden by Mia Hansen-Løve, Fevers by Hicham Ayouch, Hope by Boris Lojkine, Lady Grey by Alain Choquart, Run by Philippe Lacôte, Suzanne by Katell Quillévéré, Wolf Totem by Jean-Jacques Annaud and You and the Night by Yann Gonzales; and 2 documentaries: Cartoonists: Foot Soldiers of Democracy by Stéphanie Valloatto and I am the People by Anna Roussillon.

Alongside the French director Jean-Jacques Annaud will premiere his new film in South Africa at DIFF as part of an exceptional line-up of French films.

The selection of French short films include July 14th by Barocas Michael, A Single Body by Sotiris Dounoukos, Superman isn’t Jewish (but i am a bit...) by Jimmy Bemon, Mother Earth by Aliou Sow and Quiet Mujo by Ursula Meier.

For the first time in Durban, two prestigious Cannes Film Festival sections, the Critics’ Week and the Directors’ Fortnight, will be represented at the 2015 DFM.

The two sections at the Cannes Film Festival are represented at the festival together with a delegation of Reunion Island and experts from Produire au Sud- 3 Continents Festival for the third consecutive year.

One of Africa’s biggest film events, the DIFF attracts both film-lovers and industry representatives from across Africa and beyond. During ten days, the festival celebrates world class cinema with screenings of new feature, documentary and short films from around the globe with a special focus on African film.
