On 9 September 2024, France Alumni has organised a special event to celebrate the end of the Paris 2024 Olympics and Paralympics. Over 100 guests were invited, including top-level sportspersons, alumni, scholarship holders and volunteers, in the presence of Samuel Ducroquet, ambassador for sports.

The event started with a round table including four exceptional speakers:

  • Zohra Kehli, a Franco-Algerian fencer, sabre specialist and African Champion in sabre individual.
  • Viktoria Horpenchenko, a Ukrainian fencer and students in STAPS course in Bordeaux, who is preparing for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics.
  • Hugues Fabrice Zango, a Burkinabes triple jumper who participated in the Paris Olympic Games, world champion in 2023 and doctor in electrical engineering from the University of Artois.
  • Den Whilrex Garcia, a volunteer at the Paris Olympics and doctorate holder in neurosciences from the Paris-Saclay Institute.
  • The round table was moderated by Jorge Moron, a journalist and alumnus from Argentina.

The round table focused on the Paris 2024 Games, with the aim of presenting feedback from athletes on their participation, but also sharing an experience from a volunteer. These discussions gave guests an insight into the academic and sporting backgrounds of each of the speakers, as well as offering a glimpse behind the scenes into the lives of top-level athletes.

At the end of these rich discussions, participants played in a prize draw, and 10 received a Phryge, the official mascot of the Games.

The event closed with a cocktail reception, and guests had the opportunity to continue discussions in a warm atmosphere. This friendly event improved relations between participants, whether they are athletes, former students or volunteers, and celebrated the success of the Paris 2024 Games.

The event was a true success and led to gather together a community passionate about sport.
