Venue: Center of Environmental Sciences, College of Natural and Computational Sciences, Graduate Building, Room 616, Addis Ababa University, Arat Kilo Campus
Dr. Doris Barboni will present the research mission she led in September 2017, alongside Benjamin Bourel and Jean-Charles Mazur, and Admasu Ali (Holleta Bee research center), in the Awash valley, in collaboration with the Center of Environmental Sciences, Addis Ababa University, and the CFEE. The objective of this mission was to collect soil surface samples in the Awash valley between 2300m (Mount Asebot) and 600m (Lake Yardi) to complete the current pollen database (Holocene) in the Gewane (Lake Yardi) and Hertale Lake marshes near the Middle Awash Valley hominid sites, which are sedimentary repositories similar to those of the Hadar Pliocene formations and of Busidima.
