The UMR Nutripass develops researches on the states of nutrition, their determiners and their consequences as well as on the strategies and the intervention policies. The researches are related to the problems arising in the context of food transition and double load of the malnutritions (deficiencies and excess) which characterizes now most of the countries of the South. The most vulnerable groups of population are particularly targeted, in particular the women old enough to procreate and the young children, targets of the window of opportunity said " 1000 days " (from the conception to the age of two). The relations, every day better established, between the conditions of nutrition at the very beginning of the life (foetal period and first years of life), the later growth and the development of chronic diseases in the adulthood are so taken into account.

The approach is multidisciplinary, acknowledging the various levels of analysis of the questions of nutrition (populations, individuals, food, cells, molecules, genomes). It takes into account the food security of populations in varied agro-ecological conditions, moods and practices of diet, the characteristics and the structure of food.
