Calling all current and recently completed PhD candidates!

Are you ready for an exciting and unique challenge where you can share your thesis with a large and diverse group of audience members? The MT180 (“Ma Thèse 180”) competition, sponsored by the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, MIT and other Boston-area universities, allows you to do just that. PhD candidates from institutions of higher learning around the US are invited to prepare a three-minute pitch in French presenting their research using just one PowerPoint slide.

The presenter who takes first place at the national final on May 5th will go on to represent the US at the international competition which will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland in September 2018. There are also three prizes awarded by the jury and a prize voted on by the public, ranging from $500 to $1,000!

The jury is made up of professors, researchers, diplomats and important cultural figures from the Boston area, and the audience is expected to include professionals, students and researchers. In addition to being a wonderful way to share your passion and your academic endeavors with an engaged public, the competition offers a special opportunity to make connections with researchers from all over the world. Last year, 15 countries were represented at the international final in Liège!

Although pitches must be presented in French, applicants need not be fluent. Participants from a variety of nationalities are encouraged to take part in the competition!

Please visit the MT180 website for formal rules, a list of participating local universities and a contact form to sign up: http://www.mt180-usa.org/#concours
